State masking order is to end June 28; health experts encourage people to get vaccinated

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (WHTM) – Pennsylvania’s requirement that unvaccinated and partially vaccinated residents continue to wear masks ends Monday, June 28. The goal was 70% of the population Fully vaccinated from the age of 18, but this is unlikely.

A health ministry spokesman said people would continue to be educated about the importance of vaccination.

Dr. Nancy Mimm, assistant professor of population health at Harrisburg University, says we need to keep moving forward.

“There is no need to panic if we miss the vaccination goals,” said Mimm. “It is important that vaccination efforts continue nationwide, especially among pregnant women and the elderly.”

The YMCA Center for Healthy Living continues its nationwide Health Equity Tour. The tour focuses on general health and also offers vaccinations. The next event in Harrisburg is Tuesday, June 22nd, in the West Shore YMCA Branch from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

There is no need to register to participate. For those with concerns about vaccination, information about vaccination will be available on sight. More information about the Health Equity Tour can be found on their website Here.
