Woodruff Health Sciences Center | June 9, 2021

Brad Haws will join Emory Healthcare as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective August 17, 2021.

Haws brings 30 years of financial leadership experience to the healthcare sector. He joins Emory Healthcare from the University of Iowa Health Care where he was Vice President and CFO. In this role, he oversaw all financial operations including earnings cycle financing, accounting, debt structure management, investment strategy, third party contracting, risk management and strategy development.

Prior to that, Haws spent 13 years in the University of Virginia Health System (UVA), including leadership positions in the health group and medical school. Haws joined UVA after a long career as CFO of Intermountain Health Care, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Haws holds an MBA from Brigham Young University’s (BYU) Marriott School of Management and a BA in Political Science from BYU.

Current CFO Jimmy Hatcher will stay with Emory Healthcare for a planned transition period until the end of this calendar year before retiring in January 2022.

Jonathan S. Lewin, MD, executive vice president of health affairs at Emory University and CEO of Emory Healthcare, says Haws’ extensive leadership experience in the healthcare sector will be a tremendous asset.

“Brad has a proven track record as a financial leader in academic health care, which is vital as we adapt to new realities after the pandemic,” says Lewin. “We look forward to working with Jimmy and Brad over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition.”
