One in Four Workers Are Considering Quitting Their Job as Economy Reopens

TRUMBULL, connection – () – More than one in four employees (26%) will quit their job looking for a new challenge when confidence in the economy returns.1 This means employers must make career development a priority if they are to keep their best employees, that way Question mark, the online assessment provider.

According to the Pulse of the American Workers survey, 80% of those who seek new challenges say they are concerned about their own career development. Over 70% are rethinking the skills they need for the modern workforce.2 A separate study for the Achievers Workforce Institute predicts a “sales tsunami” in 2021, with 52% of workers across North America looking for a new job.3

Lars Pedersen, CEO of Questionmark, said: “After a year of being here, many employees are ready for a new challenge and developing their skills. If a current employer cannot meet this development requirement, the best employees will look elsewhere.

“Meaningful career development plans need to be backed up with real information about a team member’s current skills. This enables executives to tailor plans and reassure valued employees that they have a future that is worth staying for. ”

Measuring workers’ current skills with online reviews gives employers the information they need to create relevant career development plans. Assessments show the modern skills team members need to develop before they are ready to take the next step. Employers can create individual training plans.

Further assessments can measure the development of new skills and give an employee confidence that they are making progress towards their goals.
