Letter: U.S. economy | Letters to the Editor

Subject: Tony Domino’s June 10 letter to the editor: “Democrats have ruined Trump’s economy.”

Mr. Domino doesn’t shy away from superlatives that describe “Donald Trump’s great economy”. Reminds me of the owner of the Hindenburg, who exclaimed about their great ride – after it crashed and burned.

Presidents don’t really play that big a role in our economy. It is US capitalism that is the largest money producing system in the history of the world.

The president’s role is to maintain a business-friendly environment and put money into the economy when it needs a boost, such as during a recession. In fact, Trump’s tax cut was completely unnecessary, causing short-lived sugar spikes and robbing the Treasury of trillions of dollars.

Currently, President Biden’s Infrastructure Bill is designed to boost the dire economy he has inherited. It will help in the short and long term. Win win.
