Italy’s labor minister plans to call for stricter rules for the gig economy when his country holds a meeting of the Group of 20 in Sicily on Tuesday and Wednesday. Reuters reported. The meeting will be attended by heads of government charged with overseeing the work of members of the G20, which includes the United States and Canada, among other major economies in the world. “We will focus on a number of important issues such as gender equality in the labor market, the impact of new technologies on employment and economic systems, expanding social protection instruments to address pre-existing and exacerbated inequalities.” Italy’s Minister of Labor Andrea Orlando said in a separate statement.
