More people have died from COVID-19 in 2021 than in 2020

ORLANDO, Florida. – According to the World Health Organization, more people died from the coronavirus in 2021 than in 2020.

The WHO reports that 1,868,684 people died from COVID-19 in 2020 and 1,875,711 people died from the virus in 2021.

The data shows that 51 people per 100,000 people worldwide have died from the coronavirus and there were 2,351 cases per 100,000 people.

The week of January 18 was the virus’s deadliest week in the world. WHO officials report that 101,060 people died of COVID-19 in the week of January 18.

Records show that more than 1,810,700 people in North and South America have died from the virus since the pandemic began.

The Florida Department of Health reports that 36,985 people have died from COVID-19 as of March 2020.
