The estimated COVID-19 reproductive number “R” in England has risen to 1.2 to 1.4, with the daily growth rate of infections also increasing compared to last week, the UK Department of Health said on Friday.
An R value between 1.2 and 1.4 means that an average of 10 infected people infect between 12 and 14 other people. It rose from 1.0-1.2 last week.
The daily growth rate of infections was estimated to be between 3% and 6%, from 0% to 3% last week.
