No mask requirement outdoors at summer camps in NJ
No masks will be required outdoors at summer camps in New Jersey this summer, Gov Murphy said, and previewed the updated guidelines to be released on Wednesday.
“We wanted to say in advance that under this guidance, masking is not required for either campers or staff in the open air, although unvaccinated individuals are still urged to mask themselves while engaging in activities that involve prolonged contact with others or in a include crowded surroundings, “he said. “Indoors, unvaccinated campers are strongly advised to wear a mask, while all unvaccinated workers, with limited exceptions, must be masked.”
Another COVID-19 side effect: Many children go to summer school

New Jersey school officials are empowered to loosen the masking of students and staff in their buildings in the face of extreme weather conditions, announced Governor Phil Murphy.

Governor Cuomo announced schools and camps can make decisions about masks outdoors, but they are still needed indoors.
“We spoke to CDC, they have guidelines for schools across the country,” he said. “So your political orientation is for the lowest positivity status and the highest. You won’t change your forecast for several weeks.”
NY restrictions can be lifted when vaccination reaches 70%
Governor Cuomo said “We can loosen virtually all restrictions” if 70% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose. 68.6% of New Yorkers currently have a dose. 1.4% more to walk. Once that happens, Cuomo said that “masks are only required as recommended by CDC. There will still be some institutional guidelines, large venues, schools, public transportation, hospitals and nursing homes.”
