60% of people being admitted to UK hospitals are unvaccinated – adviser

LONDON, July 19 (Reuters) – UK Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance said 60% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, correcting an earlier statement he made on Monday .

Vallance previously said at a news conference with Prime Minister Boris Johnson that 60% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 have received two doses of vaccine.

“I corrected a statistic that I gave at the press conference,” Vallance said on Twitter. “Around 60% of hospital admissions due to COVID are not from double-vaccinated people, and closer to 60% of hospital admissions due to COVID are currently from unvaccinated people.”

(The chief scientific advisor corrects the statement to make it clear that the 60% figure applies to unvaccinated, not double vaccinated)
